HomeStreet in the Community
HomeStreet's commitment to the communities where we do business is simply part of our ongoing legacy. Founded in 1921, HomeStreet began by providing financing for developing our communities. Today much of the same philosophy of community involvement remains. Each year, HomeStreet contributes at least two percent of its pre-tax profits to organizations in our communities—over $700,000 in 2007. HomeStreet gives charitable contributions as part of active partnerships with organizations that focus on specific community needs including: homes and housing, parks and open spaces, and organizations in which HomeStreet employees are intimately involved.
HomeStreet Bank recently completed our fifth annual HomeStreet Community Housing Awards in support of nonprofit organizations serving housing-related needs. In 2007, HomeStreet launched a new program, the HomeStreet Bank Tree Challenge, through which we raised more than $90,000 to plant trees in the Greater Puget Sound region. HomeStreet also supports regional zoos in the Northwest and Hawaii through our annual "Wild About Zoos" program, now in its seventh year. At HomeStreet Bank, we take a comprehensive approach to community service. Through our partnerships, HomeStreet is able to provide leadership, hands-on service, expertise, products and services, and financial support.
